Trampoline Policy

(Updated for EYFS 2025)

Policy Statement: At Just Little Ones Childminding, we prioritise the safety and well-being of all children in our care. This policy outlines our approach to the use of trampolines to ensure that all activities are conducted safely and responsibly, minimising the risk of injuries.

Trampoline Use (No Use Policy)

  • Trampolines are not permitted for use within the childminding premises.
  • Trampolines will not be used during childminding hours, whether indoors or outdoors.
  • Children in our care will not have access to trampolines during any outings or off-site activities unless at a designated trampoline park with appropriate safety measures.

Safety Standards

  • We comply with all current safety regulations and guidance regarding trampoline use as set by EYFS 2025 and other regulatory authorities.
  • Trampolining will only be permitted at approved trampoline parks with trained staff, age-appropriate equipment, and safety procedures.

Supervision

  • Children will never be allowed to use trampolines without direct adult supervision.
  • Trampolining activities will only be permitted under the direct supervision of trained professionals at appropriate trampoline parks.

Parental Consent

  • Parents or legal guardians must provide written consent before a child can participate in trampolining activities at a designated trampoline park.
  • Consent forms will outline specific safety rules and any health considerations for participation.

Trampoline Park Policies

  • Before attending a trampoline park, staff will familiarise themselves with the park’s rules and ensure compliance with all safety procedures.
  • Children will be required to follow all safety rules and guidance provided by the trampoline park staff.

Safety Briefing

  • Before participating, children will receive a safety briefing to understand how to use trampolines safely.
  • Briefing topics will include:
    • Safe jumping techniques
    • Avoiding dangerous stunts
    • Respecting space and following rules

Safety Equipment

  • Children will be required to wear any safety equipment provided by the trampoline park, such as:
    • Non-slip socks
    • Wristbands
    • Other protective gear as required
  • Staff will ensure that all children are appropriately dressed and wearing the necessary safety equipment.

Age and Size Restrictions

  • Children will only be allowed to participate if they meet the age and size requirements set by the trampoline park.
  • Children who do not meet these requirements will not be permitted to use the trampolines for safety reasons.

Incident Reporting

  • Any accidents or incidents at a trampoline park will be immediately recorded in an incident report, detailing the circumstances and actions taken.
  • Parents or legal guardians will be promptly informed of any incidents during trampolining activities.

Alignment with EYFS 2025 Changes

This policy aligns with the EYFS 2025 updates by ensuring:

  • A clear risk assessment strategy for trampoline use to minimise injuries.
  • Improved communication with parents, requiring written consent for any trampolining activities.
  • Enhanced supervision and safety measures for all physical activities.
  • A focus on well-being and inclusion, ensuring trampolining activities are accessible and appropriate for all children.

Review and Monitoring

This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if needed, ensuring compliance with new legislation and safety standards. Feedback from staff, parents, and regulatory agencies will be welcomed to continuously improve trampoline safety procedures.
